Modification of Prior Orders

Various types of prior orders can be modified. These include spousal maintenance and child support.

What do you do if your ex-spouse makes more money than he or she did at the time of your divorce? What if your child’s parent is moving away and expects you to pay the added expenses involved in visitation? The answer is modification.

Many parents are eligible to have child support reevaluated every 3 years.  When income has increased significantly, or when your child’s parent is moving away, the court can require him or her to pay more child support or adjust the terms under which visitation will occur.

Modifications present their own unique challenges.  You need an experienced lawyer who knows the judges and how to prove a “material and substantial change in circumstances.”  I can help you protect your children from an abusive or addicted parent.  I can help you protect your rights when relocation is an issue.  Call me today for a consultation.
